Jeff Schmeltekopf, CLU, ChFC, CFP, AIF is Co-Owner/Partner and President/CEO of Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC and has been with the firm since 1989.  In addition to his role as President/CEO and Wealth Advisor, Jeff is also the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer (CCO).  Jeff specializes in the areas of investment management, family wealth planning, fiduciary principles, and risk management planning, and has been active in wealth management, financial planning, and related areas his entire career.  He serves on the firm’s Investment Allocations and Model Portfolios Committee focusing on areas of compliance and risk management.  Jeff is a graduate of Baylor University, Waco, Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing.

Jeff has earned several professional designations including, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, Accredited Investment Fiduciary® Designee (AIF®), Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®), and Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®).  He has completed multiple executive education programs at some of the nation’s most prominent business and management schools, including University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, MIT, Yale, UCLA, Rice, Northwestern, Notre Dame, and Duke University.  Jeff’s professional licenses include Series 7 (General Securities), Series 63, Series 24 (Registered Principal), and Series 51 (Municipal Principal) through LPL Financial.  Jeff is also a member of several professional organizations including the Financial Planners Association (FPA), National Association of Charitable Gift Planners, Lone Star Council of Charitable Gift Planners, Estate Planning Council of North Texas, and the Fort Worth Business and Estate Council.  Jeff also serves as a member of LPL Financial Ambassador Council for Independent RIAs, representing over 25,000 LPL advisors.

Jeff is and has been recognized multiple times as a “FIVE STAR Wealth Manager” by Texas Monthly magazine* and has earned numerous distinctions and recognitions from investment and financial firms across the nation.  He has been a featured speaker on investment, risk management, and wealth management topics at conferences and events across Texas and nationally, as well as a guest lecturer at TCU’s Neely School of Business, Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business, and Baylor University’s Truett Seminary.

Jeff is the son of a prominent Texas Baptist minister and became an ordained deacon at the age of 28.  He has been an actively involved church member for over 40 years, serving in numerous leadership and teaching capacities.  Jeff is also very involved in his local community, serving on several charitable organizations and advisory boards. Currently, he is serving on Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business Advisory Board and recently completed a 6-year term as Chair of Baylor’s Truett Seminary Board of Advocates.  He is a charter member of the Board of Governors for the Baylor Club in Waco, Texas and served 15 years as Chair of the Baylor Business Network of Fort Worth. Jeff is a Board member and past Chair of Baylor Scott & White North Texas Operating, Policy and Procedure Board, which governs ten major hospitals and health care centers across north Texas, and he also serves on the Board of Trustees for Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center, serving on its Executive and Ethics committees.  He also recently served as Chair of the All Saints Foundation Graduate Medical Education Fundraising Campaign. Jeff serves on the Board of Trustees for the Texas Medical Foundation Health Quality Institute in Austin, Texas and on its Finance and Executive Committees.  Jeff is a past Chairman of the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of The Chisholm Trail, Inc. (JA) and former Chair of JA’s Resource Development committee.  He has also served as a Personal Finance, Economics, and Business Ethics teacher for JA.  Jeff served for 12 years on the Board of Directors for Senior Citizen Services (SCS) of Greater Tarrant County holding the positions of Treasurer and Chair of the Finance and Endowment Investment committees.  Jeff is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (FWSO) and is Past Chair of the FWSO Executive Committee as well as Past Chair of the Endowment Investment Committee.  

Jeff grew up in Burleson, Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth, and has lived in this area most of his life. He is married to Judy, and they have four children: Emily (a graduate of TCU and married to Dr. Robert Nichols), Eric (a graduate of Baylor and Truett Seminary and married to Darian), Charly (a graduate of Baylor and married to Chris Beck), and Eleanor (a graduate of Baylor and married to Jonathan Hatley).  They are also proud grandparents of six grandchildren: Jeffrey Davis Nichols, William Robert Nichols, Noah Edward Schmeltekopf, Caroline Elizabeth Nichols, Truett Henry Schmeltekopf, and Margot Marie Hatley.  When not consumed by work and family activities (especially with their grandkids!), Jeff and his wife love to travel and are enthusiastic supporters of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and Baylor University athletics.  Jeff is also an avid golf and tennis player.

Tim Lowry, ChFC, CFP is Co-Owner and Partner, Vice President/COO of Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC and has been with the firm since 2002.  Prior to joining the firm, Tim began his career as a financial advisor in Nashville, TN.Tim specializes in investment management, comprehensive financial planning and wealth management.  He is responsible for investment research for the firm and heads the firm’s Investment Allocations and Portfolio Models Committee.  In this role, Tim oversees ongoing research for the firm’s investment policies and strategies and sets target allocations for the firm’s model portfolios.  As an advisor, he works with clients in all aspects of financial planning and wealth management including investments, retirement, estate, tax, and insurance.

Tim is a graduate of Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Family Financial Planning. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®). Tim has also completed executive education programs at some of the nation’s most prominent business and management schools, including MIT, UCLA, Yale, Northwestern, and Duke University. Tim’s professional licenses include Series 7 (General Securities), Series 63, Series 24 (Registered Principal), and Series 51 (Municipal Principal) through LPL FInancial. <>In the local community, Tim has been involved in a variety of roles at Christ Chapel Bible Church, where he has served on the Deacon Board, Finance Committee, and participated in evaluating partnership opportunities with other nonprofit ministries. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the DASH Network, a Christian nonprofit ministry dedicated to providing housing and support for asylum-seekers in North Texas. Tim also serves on the Board of Directors for Texas Medical Foundation Health Quality Institute in Austin, Texas and on its Finance and Compliance Committees.  Tim recently completed six years on the Board of Directors for Sixty & Better, Inc, serving on the Finance Committee and as Treasurer.  He has served for numerous years with Junior Achievement of the Chisholm Trail, Inc. asa Personal Finance Teacher at Aledo High School.In one of the most important gifts of care and love, Tim and his wife served multiple times as foster parents for several children waiting to be adopted from The Gladney Center for Adoption.

Tim is a native Texan, raised in Abilene and currently residing in Aledo.He is married to Sarah and they have three children, Lauren (20), David (18) and Emily (16). In addition to loving his roles as a dad and husband, Tim’s hobbies include snowskiing, playing guitar, and watching college sports, most especially the Texas Tech Red Raiders!

Jonathan Dumas, CFP is Co-Owner/Partner as well as Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC and has been with the firm since 2012.  His work in wealth management began in 2008 as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  Jonathan is head of all securities trading operations for the firm and specializes in strategic and tactical designs for investment and portfolio management and allocations, risk management, and financial planning. He also specializes in income planning for retirees and the coordination and integration of financial resources in the most tax-efficient and sustainable methods.

Much of Jonathan’s focus within the firm is centered around creative, broad-based planning for clients in the areas of investments, estate, tax, and insurance, as well as investment research and model portfolio design. Jonathan serves on the firm’s Investment Allocations and Model Portfolios Committee and supervises the structure and content of the research for the Committee’s reviews as well as for individual client meetings.

Jonathan is a graduate of the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communication Studies, also receiving his certificate in the University’s Personal Financial Planning program. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). Jonathan’s professional licenses include Series 7 (General Securities) through LPL Financial and Series 66 through Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC. Jonathan is and has been recognized multiple times as a “FIVE STAR Wealth Manager”* inTexas Monthly magazine and has been a featured speaker on Social Security and other financial planning topics at numerous events and conferences. Jonathan has worked on multiple development committees for LPL Financial, the nation’s largest independent broker/dealer**, helping LPL improve investment reporting and trading technology systems.

In the community, Jonathan spends a great deal of his personal time serving within his local church, Trinity Presbyterian Church, as well as many local non-profits. He has served for multiple years as a fourth grade mentor with Academy 4 and as a Personal Finance teacher for Junior Achievement of the Chisholm Trail, Inc. (JA), teaching students at Southwest and Arlington Heights high schools the foundational aspects of earning and budgeting money, saving and investing, as well as building and using credit responsibly. Jonathanhas also served on the Board of Directors for DFW Asylum Seeker Housing (DASH) Network and is a past Vice President of the Board.

Jonathan is a proud native Texan, born and raised in Denton. He is married to Melinda and they have three children, Kai (12), Jack (10), and Cambria (5). When away from the office, Jonathan enjoys being a full-time husband and daddy, and when the opportunity presents itself, he and Melinda enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and snow skiing with their kids.

Chris Adkins, MBA, CFP is an Associate Financial Advisor of Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC, where he has served our clients since 2019. His career in financial services began in 2015 at Liberty Wealth Management, an independent financial firm in Southern Illinois. Chris brings a commitment to personalized service and a strong foundation in investment management, portfolio analytics, and comprehensive wealth management to every client relationship. He is also the firm’s operations manager of securities trading and serves on the firm’s Investment Allocations and Model Portfolios Committee.

Chris specializes in investment analysis, portfolio construction, and the development of holistic financial plans tailored to each client’s unique goals. He plays a key role in the firm’s daily trading operations and ongoing model portfolio management, and conducts extensive performance and risk analysis, particularly focusing on the tactical (Dynamic Asset Allocation) portion of the firm’s investment model portfolios.

A two-time graduate of Southern Illinois University (SIU), Chris earned both his Bachelor of Science (BS) in Management and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance while competing as a defensive back for the Saluki football team. Chris is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), and holds professional licenses including the Series 7 (General Securities) through LPL Financial and Series 66 through Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC.

Chris is a native of California but moved to Texas at the age of 2 and was raised in Coppell, Texas. He is married to Callie, and they have two beautiful children, Audrey James (3) and Everett Christopher (1). The Adkins family lives in Flower Mound, Texas where they are active members of Flower Mound United Methodist Church. Chris’ hobbies include golf, fishing, waterfowl hunting, and finding new ways to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.

Janis Hernandez is Co-Director of Investment Client Services for Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC. She has been with the firm since 2005, helping lead our investment administrative operations, as well as assistant to the Chief Compliance Officer of the firm during her tenure. Prior to joining DJFS, Janis worked as an Advisor’s Assistant at UBS Financial Services for five years. She also attended Tarrant County College in Fort Worth.  

Janis helps to oversee all investment service matters and investment administrative issues with LPL Financial and works closely with some of the firm’s largest clients to ensure the highest level of service. Janis also assists the CCO to ensure the firm’s compliance with all regulatory requirements as lead staff liaison for regulatory and broker/dealer audits.

Janis has served on several non-profit Boards including Sports Cars of America, Equide Rapid, Birdville Band Booster, and most recently the Bicycle Longmont Board, which encourages people to ride bikes more often. She was also a volunteer at the Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

Janis is a native Texan, but currently lives in Longmont, CO. She loves the outdoors and is extremely active in her hobbies that include mountain and gravel biking, hiking, snowshoeing, and downhill and back-county skiing. Janis has done two overseas hiking trips with friends. In 2021 she did the 65-mile Salkantay Trek in Peru ending at Machu Picchu, in 2023 she  completed the Tour du Mount Blanc across the 3 alpine regions of France, Italy and Switzerland; and she is hoping to hike the Dolomites mountain range in 2026.

Janis is married to Eddie Hernandez and has three children: Dakota, Ashley (married to Chance Poteet) and Tyler.  Additionally, she is a proud “YaYa” to grandchildren Sawyer (5), Austin (4), Amellia (2) and Sadie (2). She also includes her three dogs, Dillon (Lab), Moose (Lab), and George (Pug) as part of her immediate family.

Will Taylor is Co-Director of Investment Client Services for Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC and has been with the firm since 2014.  Prior to joining the firm, Will worked in investment services for Sound Financial Solutions, LLC in Houston, Texas.  Will’s passion for investments and the stock market stem from his time working at Scottrade during his college years.   

In addition to helping oversee investment service matters within the firm, Will works closely with our advisors, constructing reviews for clients and preparing key information and data points for each client meeting.  Much of his time is spent focusing on client services, providing research for client issues and questions, and delivering superior customer service.  

Will is a graduate of TCU, Fort Worth, Texas, with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance, and a minor in Economics. He holds both his Series 7 (General Securities) license through LPL Financial and his Series 66 license through Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC. 

Will is a native Texan, raised in Beaumont, Texas.  His hobbies include traveling, yoga and watching college football.  Will is a huge sports fan, especially the TCU Horned Frog athletic programs, which he supports and follows closely.  Will considers the 2011 Rose Bowl win by TCU in football to be the most important in the school’s 143-year history, a victory he had the privilege of attending his senior year of college.  He counts the biggest blessing in his life to be the fact that he is the son of his parents, Matthew and Brenda Taylor and the older brother of his sister, Monica Taylor, a graduate of the University of Texas.

Dana Short is Director of Client Relations and Assistant to the Partners at Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC. She has been working with the firm since 2011. Prior to joining the firm, Dana worked at another financial services firm and has over 16 years of total experience in this field. Dana specializes in insurance administration, including Life, Long Term Care, and Disability. She also coordinates all of our firm’s client events, day-to-day office administration, and is the liaison and in-house administrator for DJFS and the firm’s 401(k) Plan clients.

Dana is a licensed Texas Life and Health Insurance agent and enjoys helping our clients understand their insurance policies, options, and determining the best insurance solutions suited for them. She also oversees the operational aspects of the firm’s employee benefit and retirement plan clients and helps plan trustees remain compliant with their fiduciary responsibilities. She works closely with all the various retirement plan platforms used by the firm to enhance the overall client experience.

Dana is a very active member of her local church. She is also involved in other volunteer opportunities with select groups serving the community. Dana uses these skills of charitable volunteerism to also coordinate and facilitate all the charitable causes that DJFS is involved in, as well as coordinating many charitable activities for the firm’s Partners.

Dana is a native Texan, raised in Mansfield, a suburb of Fort Worth. She is married to Rick and has three children: Brittany (31), and her twin boys, Colton (27) and Preston (27).  In addition, she is a proud “Nina” to her three grandsons: Tateum (10), James (8) and Jaxson (7), as well as to her granddaughter, Adalyn (6), all of whom she loves spending time with at baseball games, Taekwondo, and dance recitals.  Dana’s other hobbies include gardening, home improvement projects, and decorating.

Matti Craig is an Assistant Financial Advisor of Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC and has been with the firm since January of 2024.  Matti joined the firm after graduating from Texas Tech University in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning (PFP) and a minor degree in Human Sciences.  In her role as Assistant Financial Advisor, Matti provides important support and research for the firm’s senior advisors and delivers essential levels of service directly to clients.  She has been instrumental in implementing the firm’s latest wealth management software and assisting clients in their understanding and use of this important resource.

During her college years, Matti gained valuable experience working as a Financial Planning Intern for Carson Wealth Group in Omaha, NE, where she worked with a team of advisors servicing high net worth individuals.  She was also a member of the Personal Financial Planning Association (PFPA) and an officer of the Knowledge Empowering You (KEY) Organization where she served as an educator and coach.  Through the KEY organization, Matti earned the opportunity to serve the Lubbock community through financial literacy education.  As an educator, she did this through presentations given to several non-profit organizations as well as elementary and middle schools.  As a coach, Matti worked one-on-one with Lubbock County Detention Center inmates providing personalized assistance and education related to budgeting, goal setting, credit, and many other areas. During her last semester, she was able to serve more members of the Lubbock community at the Charles Schwab Foundation Personal Financial Planning Clinic at Texas Tech.

Matti’s passion and motivation for joining the financial services industry stems from the “human” side of finance, including behavioral finance.  She reflects on her time with KEY as one of the most meaningful experiences in her college career and in life, which inspires her desire to help DJFS clients reach their personal financial goals, and then to utilize those resources to pursue their holistic life goals.

Matti’s professional licenses include the Securities Industry Essentials (SEI), Series 7 (General Securities) through LPL Financial and Series 66 through Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC. She is currently working towards earning her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation and is also a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA).

Matti is a native Texan and was raised in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Her hobbies include anything outdoors, especially hiking, kayaking and working with horses, as she spent many years competing in rodeos. She also enjoys spending time with her large family and close friends. Her most beloved hobby is watching and supporting Texas Tech athletics, especially the Men’s Basketball team!

Katherine Matina is perhaps the most recognizable and beloved face to our clients. That’s because she serves as the receptionist for Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC and is a vital part of the firm’s Client Services team.  Katherine has cheerfully worked for the firm since 2010. Originally from a small town in southern Iowa, Katherine has always enjoyed meeting new people and getting to know their stories. It is her stated goal to make sure that everyone who visits DJFS feels welcome and is just as glad they came to see us as we are to see them! As the firm’s first impression to those visiting our office, Katherine delights clients and visitors with her warm hospitality and charming conversation. Her genuine personality and care for others is a huge asset to our firm, both internally and externally.

Through the years, Katherine has worked in many areas of service, both as a volunteer and a paid employee.  While raising her children, she was privileged to serve as a Cub Scout Den Mother, homeroom mom, team mom, Sunday School & VBS teacher, Booster Club member and volunteer, swim team board member, and Docent for the historical Wunderlich Farms in Spring, Texas. She also worked for many years in retail sales, running the office of a home builder, and working as a licensed massage therapist.  Suffice it to say, Katherine enjoys helping wherever she is needed.

Katherine is married to David, who is enjoying “retirement” as a mobile DJ, and she enjoys accompanying him to many events.  They love all genres of music and spending time with family. They are blessed with 5 adult children and 2 grandchildren. Katherine and David currently reside in Saginaw, Texas with their 2 Shi-Tzus, Mitzi and Bevo.

Judy Schmeltekopf has been the bookkeeper for Dean, Jacobson Financial Services, LLC, since 2007, handling all internal accounting and reporting responsibilities for the firm. She coordinates with all our staff for the firm’s finance operations and with the firm’s accountant for all tax reporting and returns. She also maintains all regulatory compliance financial records for the firm’s regulators. Judy also handles all payroll duties and business reporting for the firm’s Partners.

Judy graduated with a nursing degree from University of Texas in Arlington (UTA); however, she never worked as a nurse. Instead, she quickly found her preferred vocation was in business, most specifically the hotel services industry.  Prior to joining our firm, Judy was co-owner of the hugely successful Amberjacks restaurant on South Padre Island, Texas. Prior to that restaurant venture, she managed several condo properties, hotels, and restaurants/bars on the island as well as a 5-year span working for a successful entrepreneur/restaurateur in northern California. 

Judy remains very active away from her office duties. She has been recognized by Baylor University with an Alumni by Choice decree and is a member of Baylor’s Old Main Society, as well as a lifetime member of Baylor’s 1845 Society.  Judy currently serves on the Baylor Scott & White All Saints Women’s Health Council and on the Board of Directors of Mira Vista Country Club where she is Chair of the House Committee and serves on the Golf Course Renovation committee and the General Manager Search Committee. She previously served on the Board of Directors for Fort Worth Sister Cities, and on Mira Vista Country Club’s Strategic Planning committee, Food & Beverage committee, and the Women’s Golf Committee where she was Treasurer. Judy has also hosted multiple events for charitable organizations, including Baylor University, Baylor Alumni Network, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Van Cliburn Foundation, and church groups. 

Judy is married to Jeff Schmeltekopf, President of the firm, and they have four children: Emily (a graduate of TCU and married to Dr. Robert Nichols), Eric (a graduate of Baylor and married to Darian), Charly (a graduate of Baylor and married to Chris Beck), and Ellie (a graduate of Baylor and married to Jonathan Hatley). They are also proud grandparents of six grandchildren: Jeffrey Davis Nichols, William Robert Nichols, Caroline Elizabeth Nichols, Noah Edward Schmeltekopf, Truett Henry Schmeltekopf, and Margot Marie Hatley. When around the house, Judy loves to work outdoors in her yard, play the piano, and cook. She also loves traveling all around the world with her husband and is an enthusiastic supporter of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and Baylor University athletics. Judy is an avid tennis and golf player, participating in multiple club leagues and tournaments.
